RVT Group Ltd – Organisational Design for R&D Integration and Growth
7Q helped RVT redesign its organisational structure, define critical roles, and recruit the capability required to support a new NPI Governance Framework and enable long‑term innovation and growth.
About RVT Group Ltd

RVT Group Ltd is a leading provider of environmental control solutions for construction and industrial sectors. As the business expanded its product portfolio and invested in new product innovation, RVT recognised that its organisational structure was no longer aligned to the demands of modern R&D, product management and operational delivery. The introduction of a new NPI Governance Framework highlighted gaps in capability, unclear responsibilities and inconsistent cross‑functional interfaces. To scale effectively, RVT needed a clear organisational design and the right people in the right roles.
What They wanted to Achieve
RVT needed a structured, capability‑led organisation that could support predictable product development and bespoke client solutions. Their goals included:
- Establishing clear roles and responsibilities across R&D, Product Management, Applications Engineering and Operations
- Creating an organisational structure aligned to the new NPI Governance Framework
- Recruiting the specialist talent required to support growth
- Improving collaboration, reducing delays and strengthening product quality
- Building a scalable model to support long‑term innovation
They required an independent, expert assessment to define the structure, identify capability gaps and recruit the people needed to deliver it.

The CHallenges
RVT faced several interconnected issues:
- No clear organisational structure to support the new NPI Governance Framework
- Undefined responsibilities across R&D, Product Management and Operations
- Delays and quality issues caused by unclear handovers and inconsistent processes
- Lack of internal capability to define required roles or design an effective R&D‑led operating model
- Limited visibility of how functions should interact to support product development and bespoke client delivery
These challenges created real barriers to RVT’s ability to scale, innovate and deliver consistent product performance.
Why they came to 7Q
RVT needed a partner who understood:
- Product development
- Supplier governance
- Commercial IP strategy
- Risk mitigation in technical environments
Finding this combination was difficult. RVT engaged a specialist agency to identify a consultancy with deep R&D and commercial expertise. The agency recommended 7Q as a firm capable of delivering an independent, technically informed, commercially grounded assessment.

What 7Q DID
We started by asking the right questions – the seven which make the biggest difference.
Using the 7Q Framework, we focused on a structured, evidence‑based organisational design and capability‑building process:
Every recommendation was practical, actionable and tied to measurable improvements in capability, governance and delivery.
The End Result
RVT’s leadership moved quickly once the structural and capability gaps were clearly defined.
By acting early, RVT avoided the far more costly scenario of scaling without the organisational foundations required to support growth. Instead, they emerged with a stronger structure, clearer responsibilities and the right people in place to deliver their innovation strategy.

Organisational Clarity Secured
RVT now has a defined structure aligned to its NPI Governance Framework.

Capability Strengthened
Critical roles were successfully recruited, giving RVT the expertise needed to deliver predictable product development.

Governance Improved
Clear interfaces, documentation and cross‑functional processes now support long‑term product innovation and operational performance.
Key Insight
Fred Warner
7Q Advisory
Having a process without the people to deliver it is pointless. RVT needed help defining these roles and getting the right people into them, and it was fantastic to support them on this journey.
