RVT Group Ltd – Supplier IP Risk
7Q helped RVT secure full control of its critical IP, protect future product access, and strengthen the company’s valuation for long‑term growth.
About RVT Group Ltd

RVT Group Ltd is a leading provider of environmental control solutions for construction and industrial sectors. With a rapidly expanding product portfolio and strong market demand, RVT relies on close collaboration with key suppliers to deliver innovative, compliant, and high‑performance solutions. As several of their fastest‑growing product lines scaled, RVT identified a critical commercial risk: jointly developed IP was not contractually secured, and supplier relationships lacked the governance required to protect long‑term growth.
What They wanted to Achieve
RVT needed clarity and control over the intellectual property created with a key supplier. Their goals included:
- Establishing formal ownership or control of jointly developed IP
- Strengthening commercial agreements to prevent competitor exclusivity
- Reducing dependency risk in strategic product lines
- Protecting enterprise value ahead of expansion into new regions
They required an independent, expert assessment to understand their exposure and define a clear path to securing their commercial position.

The CHallenges
RVT faced several interconnected risks:
- Weak commercial agreements with suppliers despite high reliance
- No formal IP ownership, despite years of collaborative product development
- Competitors being granted exclusivity in target markets
- Lack of structured design processes, documentation, or field‑testing evidence
- Limited visibility into supplier governance, quality, and long‑term intentions
These issues created a real threat to RVT’s ability to scale, differentiate, and protect its most successful product lines.
Why they came to 7Q
RVT needed a partner who understood:
- Product development
- Supplier governance
- Commercial IP strategy
- Risk mitigation in technical environments
Finding this combination was difficult. RVT engaged a specialist agency to identify a consultancy with deep R&D and commercial expertise. The agency recommended 7Q as a firm capable of delivering an independent, technically informed, commercially grounded assessment.

What 7Q DID
We started by asking the right questions – the seven which make the biggest difference.
Using the 7Q Framework, we focused on a structured, evidence-based advisory process:
Every recommendation was practical, actionable, and tied to measurable outcomes. No jargon. No fluff. Just clarity and confidence.
The End Result
RVT’s leadership moved quickly and decisively once the scale of their exposure became clear.
By acting early, RVT avoided the far more costly scenario of negotiating IP rights under pressure or losing access to products that were central to their growth strategy.
Instead, they emerged with a stronger commercial footing, clearer ownership structures, and a more resilient platform for expansion.

Commercial Protection Secured
RVT now holds active ownership of the IP developed collaboratively with their supplier.

Enterprise Value Increased
By formalising IP ownership, RVT has significantly improved its valuation and reduced dependency risk.

Governance Strengthened
Clear processes, documentation, and supplier governance frameworks now support long‑term product development.
Key Insight
Fred Warner
7Q Advisory
When things are going well, companies often avoid the hard conversations, like “who owns this IP we are building together?”
But, waiting until it’s become an issue is the worst thing to do. It’s amazing to see how RVT took swift action on my recommendations to take IP ownership in products critical to their success.
