About 7Q® & Change Governance

What does 7Q Ltd do?

We help organisations plan, communicate, and track ‘change’, transformations or projects more effectively. 7Q advises, governs and delivers the changes required, designing and implementing functions like PMO, project or change oversight, steering & direction, assurance, and providing consultants to carry out change where needed.

What is 7Q®?

7Q® is a unique planning methodology, and a communication prototocol, where people are taught to ‘Master Any Plan in 7 Questions’, in a certain order, to plan and communicate plans more effectively.

What is Change Governance?

Change Governance is how organisations make sure ‘change’ happens in a controlled, transparent way, with clear purpose, robust parameters, understood roles, and visible KPIs.

How is 7Q® different from traditional change management or project management methods?

Traditional project management focusses on the pillars of scope, cost and time, and tend to only check the benefits (business case) at the beginning and sometimes at stage gates. Project managers are taught that scope is the ultimate target.

In 7Q®,the WHY (benefits case) is paramount, well developed, and the primary pillar of the method. All projects track to the WHY weekly/ monthly to ensure the benefits case is realised. Scope is owned by the sponsor, and is seen as dynamic, something that will need to change during the project to achieve the benefits case, unless the benefits case is compromised. Whilst cost and time are understood to be forecasts at any point in time, outputs of what is really happening.

What is the 7Q Method™?

The 7Q Method is our framework for Change Governance. The Method contains three pillars, 7Q PlanTM, 7Q Communicate and 7Q TrackerTM, through which plans that are understood with clear purpose are shared, understood and tracked thoroughly during their lifecycle.

What types of organisations does 7Q Ltd work with?

We specialise in engineering, technology, manufacturing and industrial sectors — including F1 and motorsport, aerospace, automotive, rail, construction, clean tech, hydrogen fuel cell, and IoT.

Do you work internationally?

Yes 7Q Ltd works across the UK and internationally, both on-site and remotely.

What size of organisation does 7Q® work best for?

Any organisation with multiple projects or over 50-100 employees benefits from structured governance. Below that, it can still be applied to individual programmes or departments, but tends to work best at a strategic planning level (business plans).

Do you only work in engineering and technology?

That’s our core – but we love helping new sectors, 7Q® has been applied across F1 & motorsport, aerospace, automotive, construction, rail, clean tech, hydrogen fuel cell, industrial, and IoT. Anywhere complex change meets people and projects, it works.

What is a PMO?

A PMO (Project Management Office) sets the standards and governance for how projects are planned, tracked, and reported. It helps leadership see what’s really happening across programmes and ensures every project delivers against its purpose and benefits – not just tasks.

Are PMOs a waste of money?

In short, no, however, if a PMO becomes too bureaucratic and committee led, without clear steering being fed back from leadership teams, people see PMOs as a blocker to progress. Top tip, a PMO should not report to the leader who is accountable for delivering the changes (e.g. an IT director shouldn’t own the PMO for IT projects).

What is an IMO or TMO?

An IMO (Integration Management Office) or TMO (Transformation Management Office) works just like a PMO but for major change – such as mergers, acquisitions, or business-wide transformations. They coordinate teams, track progress, and make sure integration or transformation goals are achieved. 7Q has great expertise at post merger integrations, transformations, and organisational changes.

What’s the difference between project management and change management?

Project management is about delivery – time, cost, and quality. Change management focuses on people and adoption. Change Governance at 7Q Ltd connects both, ensuring decisions, reporting, and behaviour all align to the organisation’s purpose.

Services & Capabilities

What change services do you offer?

All powered by the 7Q MethodTM.

Can you help us set up or improve our PMO?

Yes. We design and implement PMO frameworks that balance governance and flexibility. Whether you need a light-touch structure or a full transformation office, 7Q Ltd provides the templates, cadence, and training to make it work.

Can you help with project or programme recovery?

Absolutely. We run a fast “reset and review” process to re-establish the plan, clarify ownership, and rebuild confidence. You’ll quickly know what’s off track, why, and what to do next.

What is a Benefits Realisation Framework (BRF)?

It’s how 7Q Ltd tracks whether projects deliver the results they promised. We help define measurable benefits, assign owners, and review progress quarterly after project completion – so leadership sees real outcomes, not just activity.

Do you work with existing consultants or teams?

Yes. We often complement in-house PMOs or external consultancies by providing the governance and cadence layer that ensures everything aligns with the organisation’s goals, whilst allowing the consultants of your choice to do the heavy lifting.

What results should we expect?

Significant savings on project delivery and prevention of costs on projects that don’t always have clear benefits. The 7Q MethodTM breaks down silos at all levels, including the leadership team. Projects become transparent, reporting becomes authentic, teams and functions become aligned, decisions are made faster, and visible progress is easy to see. Our clients see clearer accountability, better reporting, and higher confidence in delivery outcomes.

Can 7Q® work alongside our existing consultants or PMO software?

Yes. 7Q is a planning language and framework, not a software system. It fits into whatever tools or reporting you already use – from Power BI to SharePoint to Jira. Our consultants are expert at working with you to identify how you wish to integrate it into your IT infastructure.

Implementation, Benefits & Outcomes

How long does it take to implement Change Governance?

A basic framework can be designed and working within 4–6 weeks. More complex programmes or portfolios usually take 3–6 months to embed fully with training and reporting.

How long does it take to implement a PMO or governance framework?

A lightweight PMO or governance setup can be running in 4–6 weeks. More complex, enterprise-level frameworks may take 3–6 months to embed with reporting and training.

Why do projects and change programmes fail?

Common reasons include unclear purpose, weak governance, siloed teams, resource shortfalls and lack of benefits tracking. Many organisations confuse activity with progress. 7Q MethodTM fixes this by creating one clear language for planning, communication, and tracking – so teams stay aligned to measurable outcomes.

How does 7Q® improve communication?

Every team – technical, operational, or leadership – uses the same seven questions to discuss all plans, in a certain order, to ensure understanding and teamwork carry through the project. This breaks down silos, eliminates jargon, and replaces endless slide decks with one-page clarity. It gets everyone literally speaking the same language of change.

What are the signs we need better governance?

  • Repeated project overruns
  • Senior leaders unclear on progress
  • Teams working in silos
  • No single source of truth for plans or benefits
  • Decisions made on gut feel, not evidence

What is Benefits Realisation?

Benefits Realisation tracks whether a project actually delivers the outcomes it promised. 7Q Ltd builds this in from day one – identifying measurable benefits, assigning owners, and tracking them after delivery through a simple review cadence.
